Kaytranada is one of the better known artists in today's Techno/Electronic scene, captivating audiences worldwide with his take on the genre. Techno music first came into being during the 1980s when musicians in Detroit and Michigan began to combine electronic music with African-American styles such as funk and jazz to create a new form of dance music. Technically speaking, techno is quite a repetitive sound and uses synthesizers and drum machines to set a tempo of somewhere between 120 and 150 beats per minute. What an artist ads to that is up to them and since it was first created a number of subgenres have also developed, among them trance and tech house.

The term electronic music is used to define any type of music created and performed entirely with the use of electronic instruments, such as a Theremin or a synthesizer. While it may seem to be one of the newer forms of music, its origins date back as far as the early 1900s when the instruments on which it is created were first developed. In more recent years, it has been combines with other styles, branched out into numerous subgenres and is particularly prolific in Germany, Japan and other eastern European countries.
